HOW ANIMALS SLEEP
You would probably be surprised to learn that man is the cfnly creature that sleeps on his back! Elephants and horses sleep standing up. Hares, fish and snakes sleep with their eyes wide open, and foxes and wolves curl themselves up so that their noses and their feet are close together. Their bushy tails act as blankets. Most birds sleep with their heads turned tailwards and tucked into their feathers. Long-legged birds sleep standing on one leg, and owls sleep in the daytime. —bent in by Audrey Felts, Bayswater.
