Decoration For Leading Bombers To Philippines RECORD ESTABLISHED Rec. 1 p.m. WASHINGTON, April 8. Colonel Eugene L. Eubank, of the U.S. Army Air Corps, has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for leading a mass flight of bombers from San Francisco to the i Philippines shortly before the outbreak of war. Colonel Eubank led the bombers over a 10,000-mile route in what is described as the longest flight over water ever made. The flight lasted from October 17 to November 19. Colonel Eubank later distinguished himself by fighting in the Netherlands East Indies.
