HIGHER RATE OF SCORING IN SENIOR CRICKET MATCHES

With fast wickets and outfields, a higher rate of scoring was mostly general In the seventh series of matches of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship. Three batsmen narrowly missed the century. R. H. Cleave, Grafton, and B. B. Sutcliffe. Parnell. each scoring 98 while D. D. Taylor, Middlemore, was dismissed at 96. Ponsonby-Balmoral. 198 for seven wickets declared, drew with Y.M.C.A., 184 for seven wickets. Grafton. 237 for six wickets declared, drew with Eden. 149 for seven wickets. Position of Teams.—With two series to go before Christmas in order to complete the opening round, the championship points are:—North Shore 34. 'Varsity 33, Grafton 25. Parnell 24. Eden 22. Papakura Camp and Middlemore 16. Y.M.C.A. and Ponsonby-Balmoral 14, Training College 12. The excitement and enterprise which one usually associates with one-day cricket was absent from the sixth series of suburban matches, which were decided at the Domain on Saturday. Dilworth. the only team to take first innings points, reduced Manukau's lead to four points. Results:— Brixton 168 for eight wickets (declared), drew with Green Lane 82 for two | R.V. 158. drew with Tui seven wickets for 104. Air Force 178, drew with Manukau seven wickets for 122. Dilworth 0.8. five wickets for 140 (declared), beat Army Service 78 and two wickets for 31.
