TRAINING COLLEGE

auxiliary hospital Staffing of the Training College auxiliary hospital was referred to in a letter which the Hospital Board received last evening from the Director General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt who said that at the Training College the proportion of trained to untrained nursing staff, when an inspection was made, was one to five whereas at the Auckland Hospital the proportion was one to 2.5. The National Voluntary Aid Council was most anxious that the voluntary aids should not be used to undertake duties for which they had not been trained. The Department supported that view. The chairman, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said that the aids were doing excellent work, and there was nothing to complain about at the Training College. He added that there was an important proviso that in the event of war emergency the Training College would not be handed over, and he wanted the educational authorities to appreciate that point. 1 The letter was received.
