OBITUARY
MRS. SUSANNAH HOOD
The death has occurred at her home, 138, Great South Road, Remuera, of Mrs. Susannah Hood, in her ninety-fourth year. Mrs. Hood, who was born in Hertfordshire, England, came to New Zealand with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Holmes, and nine brothers and sisters, on the sailing ship Matoaka, which reached Auckland in January, 1865. Her husband, the late Mr. John Hood, arrived in the following year. Mr. and Mrs. Hood cpie to live in Auckland in 1910 after farming at Otauil" for 20 years. Mr. Hood died in 1911. Mrs. Hood is survived by six of her eight children, 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The late Mr. W. Hood, formerly a prominent Auckland builder and contractor, was a son. MRS. E. BROOKE (0.C.) HAMILTON. Monday. The death has occurred of Mrs. Emma Brooke, of Hamilton, aged 88. Mrs. Brooke was born in Essex, and married Mr. Frederic Brooke in 1896. She and her husband came to New Zealand in 1910 and settled in Hamilton. Mr. Brooke died some years ago. Mrs. Brooke is survived by one son.
