SEVEN SHIPS SUNK

Axis Losses Since Libya

Invaded

U-BOATS IX MIDDLE SEA Rec. 2 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 26. It is authoritatively stated in London that British naval forces have sunk seven enemy supply ships or troop-carriers since the battle of Libya began. The Dominion navies contributed ships to the escorts which safely shepherded British supplies for the Libyan campaign. The supplies placed a tremendous strain on British naval resources and embraced long hauls round Capetown from places as far off as New Zealand and Australia. A Berlin message says U-boats have been sent to the Mediterranean, especially to assist the Italian fleet to meet the current British naval offensive.
