GOLD BAR TO ATTACK LAWN DERBY'S RECORD (P.A) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A feature of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club's New Year meeting will be a race against time by the pacer Gold Bar. The programme committee met A. Holmes, the trainer of Gold Bar, and the following conditions were agreed upon:— If Gold Bar does 2.3 or better for the mile the prize will be £100; if 2.0 or better, £150; and if he equals Lawn Derby's record of 1.59 2-5, £250; if Gold Bar succeeds in beating 1.59 2-5, £300 will be awarded, and for every two-fifths of a second improvement another £50 will be given. F. Holmes, the owner of Grattan Loyal, sire of Gold Bar, will give a prize of £100 if Lawn Derby's record is broken. Gold Bar's fastest time for a mile is 2.3 3-5, and made under saddle it is easily the best recorded in the Southern Hemisphere.

WAIKATO ACCEPTANCES

Acceptances for the Waikato Trotting Club's summer meeting, to be held at Claudelands on Saturday, December 6, will close to-morrow, at 5 p.m., with Messrs. Blomfield and Co.. Shortland Street, Auckland, and at 8 pan. with the secretary, Mr. G. H. Jew, Hamilton.
