A.R.C. Final Gallops

Corot Shows Best Form In Sprint ELLERSLIE WORK

Llandaff again showed striking brilliance at Ellerslie this mftrning, when he ran five furlongs in 1.4 on the course proper. It was an exceptionally good gallop, because Llandaff worked 50 feet out from the rails. The chestnut finished strongly, although inclined to loaf in the straight.

Llandaff is so fit that it will require a particularly good horse to bring about his defeat in Saturday's Cheltenham Handicap. Sir Simon, who is engaged in the Cambria Handicap with 7.9, showed unexpected speed over half a mile in 51s. He comfortably defeated Transcend. This was the best effort of the morning at the distance. Sir Simon has shown marked improvement in the last few weeks, but, of course, whether he will be seen to advantage among the better-class two-year-olds on Saturday remains to be seen. Corot's Dash Corot, who also is on the improve, did well at five furlongs, recording 1.4 1-5. This was only one-fifth of a second slower than Llandaff's time. Corot is a noted track worker. He is engaged in the Takapuna Plate on Saturday. A sound effort at seven furlongs was that of Kadina, who ran 1.33. She reeled off her opening four furlongs in 50 2-5s and had something in reserve at the finish. Brahman's seven also occupied 1.33. Brahman worked with Mysito. Brahman, who had a pull in the weights, had a slight advantage. Cherry's Ticket, who will strip an Improved filly on Saturday, left six furlongs behind In 1.19 1-5. Cherry's Ticket covered her first three in 39 l-ss. It was a smart gallop. Other trials were:— Three Furlongs.—Transcript, 39 2-ss; Defoe gelding, 40s.

Melvanui (Pascoe) gave a smart exhibition over four hurdles. Paint (Ritchie) pleased in a similar task. Northlander (Turner) led Beverley, Chequers and White Chief over four flights, but there was not a great deal of pace on. Surpeen (Cleaver) and Master Appellant (Ritchie) made no mistake during a school over six hurdles. Surpeen jumped well.
