AUCKLAND REGATTA

FIXTURE FOR JANUARY 29 RACES TO START OFF WESTHAVEN At a well-attended meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee held last evening it. was unanimously decided to carry on the fixture on Jawuary 29 next as far as possible on usual lines, all events to start off Westhaven.

Mr. O. P. Robertson thanked the racing officials, committeemen and all who had assisted by donations to make last year's regatta a success, and said he felt sure if they all "pulled together." in spite of reduced numbers of boats and crews, the fixture, which had been carried on since 1850. would again be a success this summer, especiallyin the smaller elaaaes. Wcstmere was a popular place and facilities for handling and for viewing the events were the bast obtainable alnce the Wharves had been closed to the public. The. help of many former committeemen now serving in the armed forces overseas was missed, and each year saw additional gaps in the ranks. It is satisfactory to know that many have earned commissions and honours, the training they received In the sport of yachting standing Wiem In good stead.

The balance-sheet, submitted by Mr. J. McOehan. showed the small debit of £S 5,11 lor the year.
