BIG INCREASES
VEGETABLE PRICES
SOME NEARLY 200 PER CENT
Much has been written and said about the price of vegetables in Auckland over the last few weeks, but the rates have to be tabulated in bjpck and white and compared with those ruling at this time last year for a complete picture of the position. In some cases popular "greens," a necessity in every household, especially where there are sick people or growing children, are 180 to 200 per cent dearer than a year ago. Breadwinners, glancing over the table below, will be able better to appreciate why their womenfolk have been grumbling so much lately. The prices are taken from the Star's market reports of the date mentioned below:—
