FUTURE EVENTS

PROPHECIES ASTRAY BIBLICAL INTERPRETATIONS (0.C.) SYDNEY, September 24. The danger of stretching Biblical interpretations to justify systems of prophesying future events is exemplified by the case of the Rev. R. C. Firebrace, of Wahroonga, Sydney, who has created considerable interest recently by prophecies based on the Bibie and on supposed meanings hidden in the physical characteristics of the Great Pyramid. Mr. Firebrace forecast that September 22 would be a great day in the turning of the tide against' Hitler, but the reality is that Hitler is going with the tide deeper into Russia. Next day, according to an evening paper, Mr. Firebrace said: "I have nothing to say. Why do people keep pestering me? Now things have worked out wrong they have an opportunity of showing me up. I suppose that makes them happy." Earlie:* this year Mr. Firebrace made a number of prophecies "with the object of calling attention to God's revelations through the Bible, the Great Pyramid, and the day cycles in which events are working out." He forecast June 25-26 would mark "a turning point in the war, a definite check to Hitler, and the sense that a Divine deliverance had been wrought." In a statement after June 26, he said his prophecy had been manifestly fulfilled, but in a manner different from what he had expected. "I have no doubt that Hitler's attack on Russia will not only prove his downfall, but will also deliver Britain from the concentrated aerial blitzkrieg and enable her to turn the tables on Germany " he said.

Mr. Firebrace was puzzled why the great event took place four days ahead of schedule, but thought it might have been because the actual attack on Russia was not the great event, but Germany's discovery four days later that Russian resistance was far stronger than had been thought.

In a broadcast last Sunday night, Mr. Firebrace referred to his prophecy, due to be fulfilled next day and counselled all to wait before passing final judgment on the folly or otherwise of what he had said December 19-20 would show more clearly what June 26 had meant However we interpret it, this date is highly significant," he said. "A cycle of 88 days from midnight, June 25, the approximate time when we reached the outer north end of the Open Tomb in the King's Chamber of the Great Pyramid, expires at midnight to-night, September 21. Now 88 in the Biblical symbology of numbers stands for an intensification of what is denoted by 8, namely, Resurrection the beginning of a new cycle of Divine creative work." ,o Th f fallin S of the Jewish New Year (Sunday, 6 p.m. to Monday, 6 p.m) he ,!? ld -' was also significant. It would be amazing if September 22 did not prove a turning point in events*
