SIX APPOINTMENTS
HOTEL WORKERS' SECRETARY (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON", this day. The appointment of six members of the Legislative Council was announced by the acting-Prime Minister, Mr. Nash, to-dc;y. The Government has re-appointed three former Councillors, Messrs. T. Bloodworth (Auckland), E. R. Davis (Auckland) and J. McLeod (Taranaki), and three new members. Messrs. Waiter Black (Nelson), F. G. Young (Auckland) and P. J. O'Kane (Frasertown, Hawke's Bav>.
Mr. Young is secretary of the Hotel Workers' Union in Auckland and is also a member of the Federation of Labour and of the Economic Stabilisation Committee. Mr. O'Kane is a farmer and Mr. Black is in business as a baker. The strength of the Council has now been increased from 31 to 37.
