SEDDON SHIELD
Although It had been stated earlier in the season that there would be no games for the Seddon Shield tins season, the first challenge match was actually played at Rugby Park, Greymouth, last. Saturday, between West Coast (holder) and Marlborough. The visitors scored the opening try, but Coast led 6—3 at the interval and went on to win 13—9. After Marlborough had equalised the halftime score, Vaughan (centre threequarter) potted a goal for Coast, and that effort subsequently kept tne holder in the ascendancy and proved to be the actual winning margin-
