AID TO RUSSIA

USE OF TOWN HALL FRESH APPLICATION MADE As a sequel to the deputation which attended a meeting of the Auckland City Council on Thursday evening, the Aid to Russia Committee has mads a request that it be allowed to rent the Town Hall on the night of Wednesday. August 13, to celebrate the signing of the AngloRussian Pact, and to authorise the sending of a congratulatory message to the British and Soviet Governments. The Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, said to-day that a special meeting of the council would be called to consider the application. He pointed out, however, that the Town Hall had been booked some time ago for the night of August 13 for a final effort in connection with the Fighting Forces Fund Appeal.
