HEAVY RAINFALL
MONTH'S TALLY RISING Expectations that the rainfall for the month would be considerably lower than the average of 5.68 in have been countered by the heavy rain which has fallen during the last 36 hours in Auckland. Up till Tuesdav only 3.10 in of rain had been recorded this month, fine, dry weather having generally prevailed.
Yesterday morning, however steady ram set in from the east and continued all day, over ljin being recorded. Further heavy squalls were experienced during the night and for the 24 hours ended at 9 a m this morning the gauge showed f, llin -, Witn the rain continuing throughout the day, there seems little doubt that the total for the month will be well up to the average.
