SEQUEL TO SMASH MOTORIST FINED £100
NO Lit BXSE FCT: TEN YEARS ! j (P.A.) CHRIbuiiuRCH, this day. A fine of £100 was imposed on Harold James Kcrnahan, who ' appeared in the Supreme Court for ' sentence on three charges of failing to stop after an accident. In addition, Mr. Justice Northcroft can- ■ celled Kcrnahan's driving license for ten years. Counsel said that there was no suggestion Kernahan was "hogging" the road, or that alcohol had any bearing on the case. Kernahan suddenly saw a small car parked on the side of the road in front of him and swerved out. Kernahan's car struck the other a glancing blow and two girls beside the parked car were thrown to the ground. Driving on to his home some hundreds of yards away, Kernahan was discussing the accident with his wife when his daughter, one of the young hurt in the accident, was brought in. Kernahan, who was 53, had an | unblemished record. "In your own interests I think ' you should never drive again," said the judge after imposing the finp, "and I propose to make it difficult for you.
