On a percentage basis, Patrick and Morgan recently, collected £500 each for their lightweipht title bout. Henneberry was evasive in the early part of the Sydney "Daily Telegraph's" boxing reporter's interview with him. llcporter: What is your answer to the offer?
Henneberry: I won't discuss the matter. See my manager, Mr. P. N. Roach. " Too Busy " Reporter: Have you retired from boxing? Henneberry: See my manager. Reporter: But surely you know whether you have retired or not without consulting your manager? Henneberry: Who is there for me to fight? I'll fight anyone who will draw money with me." But I am a very busy man. lam too busy to discuss this matter. Reporter: Will you fight Richards on a 25 per cent cut? Henneberry: The Staditim has never done anything for me. 1 don't fight for honour and glory now. I want real money. No money, no fight. That's me. But see Mr. Roach. Later Mr. Roach was interviewed. His reply to the offer was: "Henneberry wants £600 to fight Richards. He is willing to start preparation immediately if he gets that offer." Stadiums, Ltd., Firm This request for £600 was conveyed to a director of Stadiums, Ltd., whose reply was:— "Quite definitely. Stadiums. Ltd., will not pav Henneberry a guarantee of £GOO. "In reply to Henneberry's statement that Stadiums. Ltd., have never done anything for him, let me remind him that we paid his fare back from America a few years ago. "When Henneberry was making a 'comeback' some years ago, and was fighting at Newtown for small money, he was beaten by Max Rayner. Stadiums, Ltd.. gave him his chance to re-establish himself to the extent that later he drew £2000 with Ken Overlin, and other big houses. "That's only a little of what we did in case Henneberry has forgotten."
