OBITUARY

MRS. BERTHA McRAE At the age of 98, the death occurred in Auckland yesterday of Mrs. Bertha Mcßae, who, with her husband, was a pioneer settler in Marlborough. Three years ago Mrs. Mcßae made her first aeroplane flight, when she travelled to Palmerston North. Mrs. Mcßae's father was Captain Richard Scott, whose brig Spray was trading across the Tasman a century ago. Mrs. Mcßae was 12 vears old when her family settled at Nelson At 16 she was married to Mr. Philip Roderick Mcßae, and they lived at Marlborough for about 25 years. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Mcßae lived at Palmerston North for a number of years. She is survived by a son and daughter.
