WOMEN'S VIEWPOINT

DIFFERENCE IN BUDGETS HOME AND NATIONAL (Bv Telegraph .—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Compared with the task of women in dealing with the home budget, the task of the Minister of Finance in preparing the national Budget was simple, said Mrs. Stewart (Government. Wellington W.>. amid laughter. when continuing the Budget debate in the House of Representatives this morning.

"After all. the Minister of Finance is using other people's money,*' added Mrs. Stewart.

Applause from the National benches greeted this remark.

Mrs. Stewart paid a tribute to the soundness of the Budget. Women, she said, were probably more critical of any Government than men, and she could say with confidence that the women of New Zealand knew how much better off they were since the Labour Government took office. She made bold to say that in spite of their lack of so-called business experience women were greater realists than men in economic matters.

Surveying the part plaved by women in war work, Mrs. Stewart said that the women of the country were shouldering the responsibilit'v nobly and were giving their help in every possible way to assist in the winning of the war.
