(P. A.) CHRISTCHURCH. this day. In the annual Rugby match played here yesterday Christchurch Boys' High School beat Christ's College by one point. The scores were 14 —13. WELLINGTON CAPTAIN PLAYING IN SECOND DIVISION FOR ARMY
The Auckland Football Association last night received a ruling from the New Zealand Council that players who were members of any of the services' teams which were playing inilocal competitions belonged to that association in the event of inletprovincial matches, even although the players • were residents of' provinces other chan that in which the training establishment was situated.
The position arc«e following the query by the Wellington Association to the council about J. Hatchard, the Wellington representative captain, who is now in I'apakura Campj but who is placing for the Army team in the second division of the Auckland competition.
It had been suggested by members of both the Wellington and Auckland Associations that, as the transfer and clearance rales aie waived in respect to players In any of the service teams In the competitions. any playel In the event of his representative aide playing in the town in which he Is encamped, should be available for selection.
Tto general opinion of the board's members last evening was that the councils ruling was not In the best Interests or the spirit of the game, the sole selector, Mr. P. G. Fullbroek. saying that he would not consider it a sporting action to select players from the Service teams to play for Auckland against their own province. It was decided to advise the New Zealand Council that the Auckland Association supported the Wellington Association's attitude.
i Advice was received from the Secondary Schools' • Association that the North Island tourney would be played tn Auckland during the first week ol the i school holidays, the southern teams arriving on I Tuesday, August 26, matches being played during the week, with the final at Blandford Park on Saturday, August 30. This was agreed to by the board. The question of the Prank Campbell Rose Bowl match with Wellington was raised, it being understood that the schools' tourney would be played in ! uie last week of the holidays, with the final on September 6, which date had been agreed upon for •the Wellington match. If, was therefore resolved to susstst to the Wellington Association that the Frank Campbell Rose Bowl game should be played at Biandford Park on August 30. ! The senior division committee advised that owing to pressure of business. Mr. A. E.
