The need for those who have contact with both countries to exert themselves to the utmost to prevent any deterioration of Franco-British relations was stressed by the presi-' dent. Mr. A. Thomson, at a meeting! of the French Club last night in' observance of French National Day. The day. he said, was an occasion for ( reaffirming the faith that the soul oi i France would emerge again strengthened and tempered by the fires of adversity.
