HOME GARDENING

W.W.S.A. TRAINING The orcharding and gardening sections ot the W.W.S.A., which have previously made a beginning by holding training courses in fruit packing and in grafting and orchard operations are now extending their training this season to include general work in connection with home gardens as well as extending work in training for orchard work. This course is conducted by officers of the Agricultural Department together with other agricultural experts in'the city, and will consist ot seasonal demonstrations in the city in orchards and gardens, alternating with lectures at the Seddon Memorial Technical College The object of the course is to help owners of home gardens to use them to the best advantage for the nutrition of families, and also to train women to "''any possible shortage of labour wnicn may occur in connection with agricultural work. C tf, aS SOU and Us Preparation, vegetable growing, pruning of fruit trees, spraying, manuring and fruit preservation, and will open by a demonstration on the preparation of soi.and compost heaps by Mr. Colin Gillies, lecturer in agriculture at the ieachers Training College, at the 1 College, Epsom Avenue.
