POLLING TO-MORROW
LOCAL BODY CONTESTS
Every facility will be given tomorrow for the people of the Dominion to record their votes at the ballot-box for the return of local body representatives. The polling hours will be from 9 a.m. to (5 p.m.. and it will be the first occasion in the history of the Dominion for municipal elections to be held on a Saturday.
In Auckland City chief interest attaches to the mayoral election, in which the candidates are the deputyMayor. Mr. J. A. C. Allum. who has been nominated by the Auckland Citizens and Ratepayers' Association. Mr. J. Sayegh, a member of the council and the official Labour candidate. Mr. C. Bailey, a former member of the City Council, and Mr. J W. Pavne, who was a candidate at the last election. Forty-eight candidates are offering for the 21 seats on the City Council, while there are 11 candidates for five city Hospital Board seats, and eight candidates for four city Harbour Board seats. Full tickets are being run bv both the Auckland Citizens and Ratepayers' Association, and the Labour party. There will be some keen contests in the suburbs.
