Hayson (scr). 25m. 12 2-Ss. MANUKAU AMATEURS The annua! miles race Tor the Warnock Cup was conducted bv the Manukatt Amateur Cycling Chili this afternoon. The cup was presented to the club by Mr. A. Warnock. fathrr of A. R. Warnock. a club member now- with the Middle East. Forces. A light northerly wind retarded riders, for the large cirrult was used. Four laps w-ere covered. There were 32 starters, and the four ."scratch riders. C. W. Shilton. late of Canterbury, and South Islend 100 miles champion in 1938: A. W. Stonex. D. Chatfleld and M. C. Johnson, gave away starts up to Rm 3"-. Johnson was unlucky to punc'ure on the third round, while Stonex. Chatfleld and Shilton finished In that order for fastest t'mo honours. Three newriders. Saunders. Walsh and Grant, battled out. for the placln?'. with Timmins. who started racing at the end of the 1940 season. Saunders won by a clear length. Result:—K. T.
