LEYS INSTITUTE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Leye Institute was 'held laet night. Mr. R. A. Rew. who presided, referred to the annual .report (published in the "Star" on May 2) an dsaid it disclosed a most satisfactory position. The following officere were elected:— President, Sir Cecil Leye; committee of management. Messrs. R. A. Row, G. T. Upton, D. Mclnnee and W. T. Brown. A copy of a resolution, passed at the last meeting of the Auckland City Council, wae received from the town cleik. In this Che council placed on record ite deep eenee of gratitude to Sir Cecil Leye for his work and benefactions to the Leys Institute. "Since he became president of the Institute in 1924, he has devoted himself with unflagging zeal tfo further the intereete of the 'Institute," read the resolution, "and he ha* presented a total of 6075 volumes to the library during this period." After referring to the civic service -which the Ley« Institute had performed for "Olie community, the resolution placed on record a resume of the history of the institute since ite foundation.
