INDECENT ASSAULT
A JURY'S RECOMMENDATIONS
At a trial before Mr. Justice Fair and a jury at the Supreme Court, in which Joseph Penny, labourer, 49, was charged with acts of indecency, including two charges of indecent assault on a male, the jury found the accused guilty of indecent assault and returned a verdict of guilty on all charges. The jury added a rider recommending that the person 'be given medical attention for his disability, and adding its view that one of the police witnesses should be highly commended for his high sense of public, duty in bringing the matter to the notice of the authorities. His Honor said that all prisoners confined for such offences were given such occupation and medical treatment as was most likely to enable them to recover. The prisoner would be remanded for sentence.
