DE VALERA FIRM.
EIRE TO KEEP NEUTRALITY.
DUBLIN, April 14
The Prime Minister of Eire, Mr. de Valera, in a broadcast from Dublin, said: "The freedom of nations to-day is everywhere imperilled. While this war continues our dangers increase every day. Even maintaining our neutrality will mean much hardship.
"Should we be called on to defend our neutrality, it will mean suffering or death for many. We must accustom ourselves to these thoughts. Privations ahead can be avoided only by careful preparation and purposeful work. We must complete without delay schemes for the evacuation of women and children from large centres of population."
