GENERAL CAUGHT.
Elusive Italian Leader
Surrenders.
FOODLESS AND HARASSED,
(Reed. 2.30 p.m.)
LOXDOX, April 14.
"The Times" Addis Ababa correspondent says General Santini, one of the ablest and most elusive Italian divisional commanders, was brought into Addis Ababa after surrendering to a small group of South African officers.
General Santini was accompanied by Brigadier Birigatti, three colonels, 40 other officers, 120 white soldiers and 160 Eritreans, comprising the remnants of his whole force. He gave up because he was in desperate straits, without food or ammunition, chilled by bitter rains and cold in the Arussi Mountains, and also harassed by perpetual sniping from patriot pursuers.
