NO REDUCTION IN EXPORTS
Although the British Government has decided to concentrate production In a reduced number of factories working lull time. Sir Robert Dalton, His Majesty's Senior Trade Commissioner in Australia, states that there will not necessarily be a consequent reduction in exports. Actually, he says, the piurpose of the new policy is to Increase economy and efficiency in production. This will both facilitate the " full satisfaction of war needs and leave a greater margin for export. To ensure that as much as possible Is available for export, private consumption within the United Kingdom is to be kept to a minimum. Sir Robert Dalton says that it will almost certainly happen that those firms i'i u works production Is concentrated win be those most versed in export trade, because thev would normally be the largest or most efficient lor the purposes in view. Special steps will be taken however, to preserve the goodwill of those firms , whose works are closed.
