CONDITIONS IN AUSTRALIA
N.S.W. PRODUCTION STEADY
Whereas production has fallen back rather sharply in some quarters, output ,s being fairly well maintained around decent levels in other districts, states butter report of Prescott Proprietary, Limited. Sydney, issued ou March 20. The jiggroirnte arrivals are approximately the s.une as the previous week and very little less than those of the corresponding week of last season. The local market pri-.v is unchanged. choicest selling freely at 161 '2 per cwt (including 2,'G cwt for boxes). In Victoria weather conditions are good and some useful rains have fallen in many centres. The recent downward trend in pi oduction appears to have been temporarily checked. Arrivals are slightly in excess of those of the week before. The local market price remains nt 15S, 8 per cwt for choicest.
In Queensland during the week-end. heavy rain fell in most districts. This was followed by rather cold westerly winds, and although the weather is aeain warmer, with everv- indication of further rain, supplies continue to shrink. The loral market price for choicest is unaltered ;<t 101' per cwt. including boxes, and is eclliivi steadily.
With the advent of cooler weal her in South Australia, the qualify of cream has improved, and output should soon s»how an increase. Choicest is ir good denia><•! on the local market at 156 4 per cwl.
