DEATH OVERSEAS.
SOLDIER FROM WHANGAREI
WHANGAREI, this day
Private advice has been received in Whangarei of the death overseas of Private Isaac Cyril Osborne, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Osborne, of Wolfe Street, Whangarei. It is understood that death was the result of an accident.
Private Osborne was born at Whakapara 36 years ago. Early in his life he went to sea and saw a good deal of the world, especially America and Germany.
He was unmarried and enlisted for military service at Hamilton. He was a member of the 4th Reserve Military Transport and sailed with the first echelon. Recently he was in a military hospital being treated for a wound in the leg inflicted by a shell splinter, but had apparently been released from hospital. A brother, Sergeant-Pilot Cordon David Osborne, is serving with the R.N.Z.A.F. in England.
