Three Taumarunui Brothers Well

At Taumarunui last Friday three soiled of Mr. David .Jones, Ongarue. •luicy, Tori and Wallie, presented themselves for examination, and were passed as fit. The .Tones brothers are exceedingly popular in the King Comitry, and for many years pa.-t have taken a keen interest in all forms of outdoor sport? particularly poll", tenuis, football and wood-chopping. For many years Wallie was outstanding as a footballer, and represented King Country Kugby Union as fullback on several occasions. At the eporto hehl at the Kpmont lJox Company's mill near National l'ark. last season. Wallie .Tones reduced his time on a 12in standing block to ].'{ l-.">s. but. as the timekeepers were not ofliciul the record could not be claimed. At the Ranrimu Axemen's carnival held recently he continued his great chopping form in the Rauriniu Open Handicap, 12in standing blo>k event. He chopped hie. block (kaiwaka) in 14 1-."is, and Messrs. ('. L. Hardy (Auckland) and L. liarber (Owhango), tiniekeeperr-j declared it to be a world's record.
