Although the strength of Ihe loin ! foreement has. not yet 'been announced, it is stated officially that all the men called in the first oversea* ballot will not be required. Reservists in the ballot arc therefore advised not to leave their employment until they receive official notification of their mobilisation. It is anticipated that notice* of mobilisation will be sent out within-the next few days. On December 4, 14,000 name* of single men and men married since May 1 last were drawn in the first Uillnt for service oversea*. There were 21Xtj name* of men in the Auckland military area, including those of a considerable number who had volunteered for *crvioe abroad. The Fifth Reinforcement was made up substantially of volunteers. The voluntary system of enlistmenf for the 2nd N.Z.E.F. ended on July 22 last year. A total of tiO,S!2 men volunteered. The total of Auckland men drawn in the two ballot* for overseas service is 5170.
