CAUGHT ON THE FLY.

TRO. T FOR U.S. SAjLORS. MINISTER DENIES RUMOUR. (0.C.) ROTORUA, Friday. Rumours which he said had been circulating in Auckland that 130 rainbow trout presented to the United States naval squadron had lieen netted wore repudiated by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, in the course of an address at Rotorua to-ilay. Mr. Parry said that all the fish, with the exception of ten, which were taken on the spoon, were caught on the fly. "The rumour should be treated with the contempt it deserves," the Minister added. "It would have been a terrible thing if I had denied that while the naval vessels were still iu Auckland and our visitors had seen that we were wrangling over the gift we had made them."
