CIVIC WELCOME.

GOVERNOR-GENERAL.

NEXT MONDAY AT MID-DAY.

The Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall, will make their first official visit to Auckland next Monday, and at 12.15 p.m. will be given a civic reception at the Town Hall.

Iheir Excellencies will be welcomed by the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, and there will be other speakers, including representatives of Auckland suburban local bodies.

It is expected. that the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. P. Fraser, and the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, who are coming to Auckland to take part in the welcome to the delegates attending the annual Municipal Conference, will also be present.

Sir Ernest Davis said this morning that the public would be invited to attend the civic reception, as it was desirous that the welcome should be of as representative a nature as possible. On Monday evening their Excellencies will attend the function at the Town Hall, when the delegates to the Municipal Conference will be officially welcomed. The attendance at the evening function will be confined to official visitors and representatives of public bodies and organisations.
