CHRISTMAS APPEAL.

The Salvation Army officer**, who are constantly engaged in the Christ-like work of relieving the distress of others, are in constant touch, with, manv families, whose happiness this Christmas time will depend largely upon the resj)onse given by warm-hearted friends in city and country to our appeal for help. The following figures gi\e some idea of the work carried on at the Salvation Army Samaritan Office, i •>. Grey s Avenue. Auckland. During the year there have l>cen 2-V29 families assisted with food, clothes, firing. furniture and bedding. Many inftfviews have taken place at the depot. Parents have spoken with grief of their wavward children, told of girls coming to the city without proper supervision and the dreadful results of bad companions, etc. To each and all help and advice have liecn given and many of the stories have ended happily after all. No le-s than 2->i 1 have been helped in this way. Now Christmas is coming and manv will lie looking to us for help. food, meat and vegetables, clothes of all kinds and gifts of money are urgently needed. Next week, on December IS. is the Christmas tree for 30ft children. Cnn yon help us with toys or sweets? The Christmas party for the women prisoners at Mount Eden prison i« bein™ eagerly looked forward to. We need your help! Will you respond generously to our requc-t for help with donations or in kind ?
