APPLES DUMPED.
QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. (By Tel««r»ph.—P«rli»ment»ry Reporter.) WKLiLIXGTOX, this day. Full information in connection with the apples recently dumped by the Marketing De|Mirtment was sought by -Mr. Hodkin (National, Central IMa go) in a notice of question to the Minister of Marketing. Mr. Xash, in the House of Hepresentatives yesterday. Mr. Bodkin asked the Minister: (1) Would he inform the House how long the apples were in cool store; (-) was the fruit examined periodically to ascertain if there was evidence of deterioration; (:!l were the apples graded and inspected before admission to cool store, and, if so, what, wan. the cause of the deterioration; (1) if an ins|>ection disclosed evidence of deterioration why was the fruit not immediately regraded and the sound fruit offered for sale at a reduced price! "I have been shown a sample of apples taken from the tip." said Mr. Minikin. • These appear to be sound and similar in quality to the fruit now on sale in. city shops."
