GREATER CHEESE OUTPUT.
N.Z. CO-OP. DAIRY COMPANY. GREAT RESPONSE BY SUPPLIERS. (0.C.) HAMILTON, this day. A statement that the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy- Company to the end of October had manufactured approximately 2500 tons more cheese t'liau for the corresponding period last year was made by Mr. .1. Parlane, general manager, in his monthly meswage to suppliers. Provided the season continues to be favourable, aa it has been to date, little difficulty is expected in reaching, if not exceeding, the company's objective, to increase its cheese production this season by 4000 tons. While the weather conditions to a certain extent were responsible for the increase, continued Mr. l'arlane, the result would not have been achieved were it not for the excellent response from butter suppliers, who. at 110 little expense and inconvenience to themselves, transferred their supply to cheese factories. Such action was to be commended and was definite evidence of the desire of the farming community to render the utmost assistance to the United Kingdom in the great effort s hc was making in defence of democracy. Four of the company's factories found it necessary to work a night shift in order to cope with the supply offering, and all its factories, with the exception of five, were working at full <-«pacity. The latter also would have been filled to capacity had cans been available to enable farmers residing in the vfeinity to »upp«lv milk for cheesemaking. However, a vessel carrying the tin plate had unfortunately been delayed en route and this had resulted in an acute shortage of uiilk cans.
