ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.
SPECIAL GIFTS. During the la>t few days, two splendid gifts have been made to the St. John Ambulance Brigade in •Viicklaud. one being an electric power sewing machine for the use of members of the Brigade Sewing (inild. which was founded by Mne. G. S. Cammcll, in 1914, for war work. The donor of this useful gift is Mr. Herbert C. Martin, of Karangahape Road, Newton, whose generosity has added great encouragement to the members of the guild, who have given so untiringly of their services. The Brigade Medical Comforts Depot, which lends or hires articles to members of the public, requiring them, is the recipient of the other useful gift, Uiis being a lifting apparatus, donated by Mrs, Faulkner, of CourKille Flat*. Auckland. Tlim apparatus was apecially constructed in England, from drawings
made by a resident of Christchurch (X.Z.), to enable heavy aud helpless patients to be lifted with ease and comfort to and from beds and chairs without causing undue physical strain on the nurse or attendant, and those, who will benefit by Mrs. Faulkner's gift will undoubtedly be greatly appreciative of her generous action in making it possible for this apparatus to be put at their disposal.
