DOMINION-WIDE CONTEST.
WINS CHEQUE FOR £500.
Wiiinor of the national centennial baby carnival, conducted by the Order of St. John, in order to raise fund* for various purjwses, it> Christian Harrison. son of Mr. and Mre. C. Harrison, of 04. Nile Koad, -Milionl. The iii*t prize i> £600.
Begun early this year, the carnival was conducted with the help of lheatr«vcontrolled by Fullers', \VilliaiiiMin>" and New Zealand Theatres, and a number of independent houses. Prizes of a substantial amount were, donated, and many hundreds of babies were entered in the carnival. Moving picture* of the entrants were taken and <li»plaved at a theatre, in the individual entrant'* district. From voting by patron*, theatre winners were chosen, and these subsequently took part in district contents. Eventually, finalists were selected from the Xortli and South li-lande. and Christian Harrison proved the most popular.
A cheque for £">OO will be presented to Mr. and Mre. Harrison at a ceremony in the Victoria Theatre, Devonport, next Monday evening.
