WELLINGTON FIRE.
EARLY MORNING OUTBREAK. WELLINGTON, this day. Fire in the early hour* of this, morning at 102-104, Wakefield Street, *a« responsible for considerable damage to stock*, mainly by water. Some damag« was done to the. building, and ther« w 4s complete gutting of the *t miio of Max .Studios, display advertisers, there Titfire started at the rear of the ton floor. An empty room alongside was also burned out. and partitions in a p*fsago were blackened and charred.
The office* of Charles McPhcv and c<,., woollen warehousemen, escaped with damage to the ceiling and mjiew.- minor water damage.
Water, dirt and charred .wood penetrated to the floor below, consider*frhdamaging the stocks of J. £. SutclifiY. Ltd., warehousemen, which had btvii covered with cam as sheet* by finanen. Water, reaching a Bible and trac; depni two floors below, was |<arlicularly destructive, ruining a quantity of Ix.uk*. and pamphlets.—(Press Aara.)
