LANDED ON TREE.
PILOT NOT HURT.
PLANE CRASHES AFTER SPIN. (By Air.) SYDNEY. Oct. 5. An emergency parachute landing wae made by Pilot -Officer L. G. Wedder, 23, when an R.A.A.F. plane craened in Mcgalong Valley. It was the first time he had made a parachute jump. Wedder landed on a tree and was not hurt. The plane was one of a formation of three making a flight from Melbourne. While over Mcgalong Valley, Wedder lost sight of the other plane* in heavy mist and snow. Fearing he might collide with the other planes. Wedder began to circle. While climbing, the plane went into a spin, and dived at 260 miles an hour. Unable to regain control of the machine. Wedder baled out. He landed in rough country two miles from Megalong Valley post office. The plane crashed into the side of a mountain and burst into flames near Pulpit Hill. Katoomba. Five policemen and ambulance officers from Katoomba who rushed to search for Wedder found aim calmly climbing down the tree.
