"CHEERIO!"
TO YOUR SOLDIER.
SEND ONE THIS WEEK.
Soon the first of the Saturday night "Eight o'Clock" sports editions, with their intimate "Cheerio" greetings, will be delivered in the overseas military camps and naval and air force messrooms. Soldiers, sailors and airmen will be scanning the columns for their own names, and those of their friends. The printed messages, so often containing a humorous reference to some home or family incident, will be read with eager interest.
Remember your own lad, wherever he may be. Whatever the service, whatever his rank, he will appreciate a thought in the "Eight o'Clock." Although hundreds of names have been published during the past month, covering all types of active service, and ranging in rank.from lieutenant-colonel to boy (second class), there are yet thousands of Aucklandere abroad who would appreciate a tangible reminder that, as far as he is concerned, with those at home it is not a case of "out of sight, out of mind."
So make the small effort required today, or, in any case, before 0 p.m. to-morrow. Bring or send your "Cheerio" to the "Star" Office. No charge is mada for number, rank and name, but there is a fee of half-a-crown for fifteen words and nincpence for each set of five additional words. The message of fifteen words suffices for all practical purposes. Be careful to give full military address, since the "Star" forwards a free copy of the "Eight o'Clock" to each man I addressed.
Get your "Cheerio" in next Saturday's 'Eight o'Clock." Don't allow your boy o be disappointed!
