ELECTRICAL STORM.
WORST FOR MANY YEARS.
HAIL PALLS AT TAURANGA
TAURANGA, this day. Preceded by vivid lightning and h<Jaw peals of thunder a. terrific downpour. accompanied by hail, struck Tauranga laet night. Shortly after teven o'clock the town experienced its worst electrical storm for many years. At 9 a m it reached ite peak with terrific thunder, followed by a burst of hail lasting two minutes. This was followed bv a downpour of rain. Hailstones ' collected measured half an inch.
During the downpour, which was accompanied by a heavy wind, manv shops and offices facing* we>t suffered considerable damage owing to >- pontine* beinp unable to cope with the water, which covered Willow Street
Mr. and Mre. Boyle, of Hunter Street, had a lucky esc«pe from injury when a flash of lightning paeeed through their wirekee set, tearing a hole in a walL
