MISSING LABOURER.
FINDING AT INQUEST.
That death occurred on or about September 23, 1939, and was probably due to exposure, was the finding of the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, at an inquest to-day held at the morgue. On Sunday evening a skeleton was found in some tea-tree above Wattle Bay, near Blockhouse Bay, and inquiries made by the police led to the belief that the "body was that of Mr. Jeffrey Cope, labourer, aged 49, who had been missing from his home at 40, Kitchener Road, Sandringham, since September 23, 1939. .
At the inquest to-day Stuart Neville Cope identified the clothing found on the body as that worn by hie father who had been missing for just over a year. Hie father had occasionally suffered from loss of memory and headaches, and had been in indifferent health. On a previous occasion he had been missing lor three weeks.
Sergeant W. K. Brown gave evidence as to finding the body about 40 yards down the hill from the road leading to Wairiki stream, near Blockhouse Bay.
