LOCAL BODIES.
MT. ROSKILL ROAD BOARD. The fortnightly meeting was held last evening, the chairman, Mr. C. M. McCullough. presiding. Harbour District.—The Minister of Marine notified that no alteration is proposed to be made in the boundaries of the constituent areas of the Manukau Harbour. Fire Board Building.—The board gave its consent to the raising of the extra amount required to complete the extension of the original plan. Audit of Accounts. — The Auditor-General returned the board's balance-sheet duly certified without any exceptions or comment. The chairman remarked that this reflected great credit on the clerk and staff. Minimum Tram . Fare. — The Transport Board advised that In its opinion minimum fares would not be satisfactory on the Onehunga route. Orphanage Fund. —The board decided to vote the sum of £5 5/ to this fund. Permits. —Building permits to the value of £2400 have been issued during the past fortnight, exclusive of State houses. Congratulations.—The board resolved to send a congratulatory letter to Mr. H. W. Carbury. a resident of the district, whose son has recently been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
