NOW A CANTEEN.
COBBLER'S SHOP CONVERTED.
Three girls, one aged 19, the others in their early twenties, have rented a cobbler's shop in a south of England village and turned it into a canteen for Canadian soldiers. They call the place Canadian Manor, and serve hot doge along with the usual English food. They began the business with a capital of £15.
. The eldest girl, Marion McCauley, who had the idea for the venture, is herself a Canadian, and was working in London as a secretary. She told her plan to two Irish girls living in her hostel and they gave 'up their office jobs to join her. Their Canadian clients appreciate the idea so much that some of them helped the girls to clean up and decorate the old cobbler's shop.
