LONDON'S AGONY

" HEART TO HEART."

"STAR'S ,, APPEAL.

NEXT MONDAY FINAL DAY.

' The homeless, the widowed, the 'Orphaned, the maimed and the blind, all the civilian victims of the Nazi "bombblitz," call to us, through the "Heart to Heart" Appeal, to tussist them in their suffering. Their call has not fallen on unsympathetic ears, for to-day, at noon, the "Auckland StarV fund had risen to £18,598.

Throughout the appeal the response by the people of Auckland hae been most generous. It has now been decided to close the "Heart to Heart" Appeal for British civilian victims of the bombing raids next Monday. All intending subscribers are, therefore, urged to make their donations this week. Those who wish to make a substantial donation, which will encourage others to give generously, are asked to forward their cheque immediately to the "Auckland Star," or to pay in the cash at the counter on the ground floor of the company's Shortland Street office.

Subscribers with smaller donation* are urged to give through the district runners' liete, which will be brought to completion on Thursday and Friday this week, so that full ackiiowlc<l,gmcnt may be made in this column next Saturday. Now that the fund is within a few days of closing, it is hoped that all who have not actually made the donation which they have mentally resolved to ;rive. will "act at once, to the end that the "Auckland Star" may rUMid a really substantial cheque to the British relief fund.
