EIGHT SIDES TAKE FIELD TO-MORROW FOR ROOPE ROOSTER.
Eight Rugby League teams will be engaged playing in the Roope Rooster competition to-morrow, which is being carried out on the knock-out principle. The main match at Carlaw Park will be between Mount Albert and North Shore, and a keen contest is anticipated. Last Saturday Mount Albert showed a remarkable return to form and defeated Richmond, the club champion of the season. North Shore will field a strong all-round side, and be hard to beat.
The curtain-raiser on the No. 1 (round *U1 be between Ponsonby and Vsrlst. and here again the result would be difficult to forecast, in view of Improved form by both teajns In recent matches City will meet Richmond on the No. 2 ground the latter team making Its Orst appearance in the "Rooster" competition. The early match on that field will be between Papakura and Manukau. The former club had a convincing win In Its first match for the trophy last Saturday, acalnst Otahuhu. but to-morrow will be called upon to meet stronger opposition.
