IMPACT OF WAR.
I - . EFFECT ON COMMERCE. FEMALE LABOUR POSITION. WELLINGTON, this day. "The impact of war conditions is undoubtedly making itself felt in the nation's commercial life," stated the. Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Production, to-day, 'but reports on industrial conditions for the June quarter show that Wholesale business is satisfactory, manufacturers keeping stores well supplied." The position regarding female labour is not so satisfactory, the Minister stating that factories manufacturing military requirements are capable of absorbing more operatives. He repeated his appeal to former operatives to return to this work, even at a sacrifice. (Parliamentary Reporter.)
